Make Housewarming Baskets

Make Housewarming Baskets

Our Housing People First initiative is ending homelessness for people who’ve struggled for years on the streets and in shelters by providing them with dignified housing and the support they need to rebuild their lives. They all need a little help to get started.

By creating and donating housewarming gift baskets, you’ll be an important part of welcoming people into their new homes and getting them started on their journey to living hopeful, peaceful lives. You can make these baskets on your own, and it’s also a fun opportunity to get a group of friends or colleagues together to have a Housewarming Party and make a huge difference in people’s lives.

How to Build a Basket

Weston LDS Boys with Baskets
Weston Congregation of the LDS church creates baskets

Fill your baskets with some of the basic necessities we all need to get started in a new place, and don’t forget to include a welcome note: they mean a lot to the people who receive them. You can make as many baskets as you’d like!

Preferred budget for items in the gift basket = $30 or more.

Items in the gift basket can be any range of basic household goods or toiletries, and you can even make the basket a useful household item like a laundry basket. Find inspiration from this list.

You can drop off 24/7 at the Woods Mullen Women’s Shelter, 794 Massachusetts Avenue, right in the South End.  You can also box them up and mail them, or place orders online, and have them sent to Attn: Dwayne Brown, Southampton Shelter, 112 Southampton Street, Boston, MA 02118.

PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF AT 12 WISE STREET. Keep our community housing programs residents healthy, we continue working remotely and there is no place to leave packages if we aren’t there. Thank you!
